Developing countries have a high infant mortality rate because of poor medical and healthcare system in their respective countries. Lack of access to basic medical resources is the common cause in these countries due to poor medical infrastructure, which contributes to an increasing infant mortality rate. Newborn screening basically aims for the early detection and management of the newborn baby to reduce mortality rates. Developing countries have poor access to necessary healthcare facilities leading to comparatively lower adoption of advanced newborn screening tests.
