Apple Takes Top Spot as Global Smartphone Shipments Hit 439 Million in Q4 2016

Global smartphone shipments grew a healthy +9% annually to hit a record 439 million units in Q4 2016. Robust demand for new models in China and Africa drove the uptick. Apple returned to the top spot to become the world’s no.1 smartphone vendor for the first time in 5 years. Meanwhile, OPPO, Vivo and Gionee delivered very strong performances.
