Report Summary:

Strategy Analytics conducted a UX benchmark study of the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class.  Poorly communicated control-display relationships led to lengthy manual tasks for first-time users, even when using the highly-touted thumb touchpads on the steering wheel.  The speech recognition system relied on unintuitive entry utterances, leading to a number of errors.  Users gave the E-Class high marks for its style and aesthetic design, but extremely low marks for the learnability and ease of use of the various control modalities, which led to a very low IVX score for infotainment usability.
