Growth In SCADA Systems Adoption was considered to be one of the major trends shaping the power generation, transmission and control manufacturing industry as of 2016. The relay and industrial control industry is increasingly adopting SCADA (Supervisory control and data acquisition) systems to enhance process efficiency and productivity. SCADA systems are used to remotely control industrial processes such as power generation, fabrication and refining through coded signals over cloud channels. The applications of these SCADA systems is expected to rise mainly due to their scalability, ease of upgrading, emergence of global smart grid projects and increased use of cloud technologies. The market is also benefitting from high demand for energy and renewable resource projects. The SCADA systems market is estimated to grow at a CAGR of 7.2% from 2014 to 2020.
Asia Pacific was the largest region in the power generation, transmission and control manufacturing market in 2016, accounting for 48% market share. It is followed by Western Europe accounting for 30% market share. North America was the third largest region accounting for 14% market share.
Switchgear and switchboard apparatus segment was the largest segment in the power generation, transmission and control manufacturing market with around 49% share of the market. This can be attributed to high demand for circuit breakers, control panels, switches and fuses from commercial establishments such as construction and individual customers. Motor and generator segment was the second largest segment. It is followed by relay and industrial control. Power, distribution, and specialty transformer segment was the least segment with around 11% share of the market.
?
The top five competitors in the market made up 14% of the total market share in 2016. Toshiba Corporation was the largest competitor, followed by Siemens, Mitsubishi Electric Corporation, ABB Ltd, and Eaton Corporation Plc.
