Baseband Market Share Tracker Q3 2013: Qualcomm Grabs Two-Thirds of Revenue Share

The global cellular baseband processor market registered 10.3 percent growth year-over-year to reach $4.9 billion in Q3 2013, while unit shipments declined by 2.7 percent. TD-SCDMA and LTE baseband shipments registered the highest year-over-year growth among all air interface technologies in Q3 2013. Qualcomm captured a record 66 percent revenue share in Q3 2013, followed by MediaTek and Intel. Qualcomm's LTE and LTE-Advanced slim modems and Snapdragon chips gained strong traction at major OEMs during Q3 2013. This report tracks the cellular baseband unit shipments, ASPs and revenues of 21 baseband chip vendors across six air interface technologies on a quarterly basis and includes provisional data up to Q4 2013.
