The global cellular baseband processor market grew a modest 5.4 percent growth year-over-year to reach $4.4 billion in Q2 2013, while unit shipments declined by 6.5 percent, which can be attributed to a decline in basebands for feature phones. LTE and TD-SCDMA baseband shipments registered triple-digit growth, while GSM/GPRS/EDGE, UMTS, CDMA and iDEN baseband shipments all declined from the year-ago quarter. Qualcomm captured a record 63 percent revenue share in Q2 2013, followed by MediaTek and Intel. T his report tracks the cellular baseband unit shipments, ASPs and revenues of 21 baseband chip vendors across six air interface technologies on a quarterly basis and includes provisional estimates for Q3 2013.
