Hutchison's O2 Acquisition: UK Sector Restructuring Continues

Hutchison’s planned $15 billion acquisition of O2 UK, which we expect to receive regulatory approval, will create a new market leader, though one at odds with the quad-play direction the UK telco landscape has taken. There are obvious benefits for the operators involved in one of Europe’s least profitable mobile markets, though consumers will have to hope that increased quad-play bundling will help to mitigate against any mobile price increases.
