2013/11/18 China mobilizing for huge LTE rollout; Mobile infrastructure growth braking in Japan
Campbell, CALIFORNIA, November 14, 2013—Market research firm Infonetics Research released excerpts from its latest 2G, 3G, 4G Mobile Infrastructure and Subscribers in Japan and China market share and forecast report, which tracks GSM, W-CDMA, TD-SCDMA, CDMA2000, and LTE equipment and subscribers in Japan and China. CHINA MOBILE INFRASTRUCTURE MARKET HIGHLIGHTS “For the second time in Chinese mobile spending history, only a third of total budgeted capex was spent in the first half of the year. This is even lower than last year, and half of what the total should be at this time of year!” says Stéphane Téral, principal analyst for mobile infrastructure and carrier economics at Infonetics Research. “China Mobile and China Telecom dragged total capex while China Unicom is ahead of its spending plans.”
JAPAN MOBILE INFRASTRUCTURE MARKET HIGHLIGHTS “Year-over-year growth in the Japanese mobile infrastructure market slowed to 8% in the first half of 2013. What we saw was basically a continuation of the LTE network construction started a year ago by NTT Docomo, KDDI, and SoftBank Mobile,” notes Téral.
