2016/01/11 CES 2016 Tablet News Part 2: Where Have All the Androids Gone?

I tried. I really tried. I have only found one new Android tablet being announced in Las Vegas this year and I’ll have more to say about it tomorrow. For the meantime, there is still some catching up to do on the Windows Tablet announcements as the big vendors are heavily focused on exploiting the Windows 10 operating system with 2-in-1 Tablets, making Microsoft very happy and very busy these days, and further validating our forecasts that Windows Tablets are on the rise.

Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Tablet
Lenovo released a new premium tablet in the ThinkPad range called the X1 Tablet with a 6th Gen Intel Core-m7 processor starting at $899 and will be available in February. Three clip-on modules are available for extra battery life and ports, an Intel RealSense 3D camera, or a pico projector ranging from $149 to $249. The keyboard is also optional, though highly recommended.


Dell Latitude 12 7000 2-in-1 and Latitude 11 5000 2-in-1
Dell is pushing 4K display with 104% color gamut for its premium enterprise products as a way to ease eye strain on its Latitude 12 7000 2-in-1 Tablet for $1049 (base model). Its smaller cousin, the Latitude 11 5000 does not have a 4K display and comes in at a $749 starting price. Both become available in February 2016 and both run on Intel’s 6th Gen Core-M processors.


Toshiba DynaPad
The DynaPad that Toshiba previewed at IFA 2015 arrived at CES 2016 with a price of $649. It’s an incredibly light 12” 2-in-1 Tablet with an Intel Atom processor.
