This Strategy Analytics research estimates AppleMediaTek, Qualcomm, Intel, and Samsung LSI captured the top-five revenue share rankings in the tablet AP market in Q3 2015. Apple led the tablet AP market with 37 percent revenue share, followed by MediaTek with 17 percent revenue share and Qualcomm with 16 percent revenue share.

According to Sravan Kundojjala, Associate Director of the Strategy Analytics Handset Component Technologiesservice,  “The tablet AP market’s declining trend continued in Q3 2015. Except for MediaTek, almost all major tablet AP vendors registered negative growth in Q3 2015. MediaTek overtook Intel to capture the top spot in non-iPad tablets in Q3 2015. The tablet AP market, an extension of smartphone AP supply chain, took a hit in recent quarters, thanks to long replacement cycles and high concentration of low-cost players. Strategy Analytics believes that a potential consolidation in the supplier base could help. ”

Stephen Entwistle, Vice President, commented, “Strategy Analytics estimates 64-bit APs accounted for over 55 percent of total tablet AP shipments in Q3 2015. AppleMediaTekIntel and Qualcomm were key players in this segment. Strategy Analytics predicts 64-bit APs will continue to gain share in the next few quarters.”
